Key Features
The Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 is a second-generation telephoto zoom for mirrorless shooters who need a fast, portable F2.8 lens for portraits, sports, and events. It keeps the compact size of the original while adding Tamron's VC image stabilization and a shorter minimum focus distance for more compositional flexibility.
- World's Smallest/Lightest F2.8 Tele-Zoom: Measures 156.5mm at the 70mm end and weighs just 855g.
- New VC Image Stabilization: Adds Tamron's proprietary Vibration Compensation, which wasn't on the first-generation model.
- VXD Linear Motor Autofocus: Drives focus in steps as small as 0.005mm for fast, quiet, and precise tracking of moving subjects.
- 0.3m Minimum Object Distance: Shortened MOD at the 70mm end (0.85m at 180mm) enables autofocus close-ups previously only possible manually, with 1:2.6 maximum magnification.
- 20 Elements in 15 Groups: Includes an XLD element, three LD elements, two GM elements, and BBAR-G2 coating to control chromatic aberration, ghosting, and flare.
- TAMRON Lens Utility Compatible: Lets users customize focus behavior, assign camera functions, and update firmware from a PC or Android device.
- Shared 67mm Filter Thread: Matches Tamron's other compact mirrorless lenses so filters carry over between lenses.
