Description
This is an upgrade path for studios that already run Softron OnTheAir Video Express and want to move up to OnTheAir Node 4, a client-server playout platform built for facilities running live or 24/7 operations across multiple machines. Node's open architecture lets one control-room computer manage multiple playout servers in the machine room, which is the main reason stations move up from the single-machine Express license. It uses the same Smart Playout Engine as OnTheAir Video, so existing playlists and workflows carry over.
- Client-server architecture: One control-room client can remotely control multiple OnTheAir Node playout servers over the network via Telnet or a REST API.
- Redundancy: Supports master-slave mode with automatic restart for live or 24/7 unattended operations.
- Multi-stream playout: Can play out 4 simultaneous HD streams from a single Mac, including a Mac mini.
- Broad format support: Plays QuickTime, MXF, and transport stream files plus still images (PNG, TGA, TIFF), with automatic resize modes (Fill, Pan-and-Scan, Letterbox) for mixed frame sizes.
- Third-party integration: Media is cataloged and validated automatically, with XML clip data for integration with traffic and media asset management systems.
- Router and GPI control: Dedicated plugins control Blackmagic Design Videohub and AJA Kumo routers, plus GPI triggering via the GPICommander box.
