Lighting the way forward. The Sony Cinema Line FX5 brings 5K 3:2 Open Gate, internal X-OCN compressed RAW, Three Base ISO and Dual Gain Shooting together in a compact full-frame body — empowering filmmakers to step confidently into the next stage of their professional journey.
A full-frame fully-stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor pairs with the BIONZ XR2 engine and integrated AI processing for fast readout, 15+ stops of latitude and dramatically improved subject recognition. Open Gate recording — a first in the Cinema Line FX series — captures 5K up to 60 fps in full-frame 3:2 and 4K up to 120 fps, giving you total freedom over framing, speed and delivery. Internal 16-bit scene-linear X-OCN in LT, C1 and C2 removes the need for an external RAW recorder entirely.
Three Base ISO settings (800, 4000 and 12800) plus Dual Gain Shooting keep shadows clean across wildly different lighting conditions, while S-Cinetone, S-Gamut3/S-Gamut3.Cine and three S-Log3 modes slot the FX5 straight into a professional grading pipeline alongside VENICE 2. Five-axis in-body stabilization, a 4-axis multi-angle 3.5-type monitor, dual CFexpress Type A/SD slots, and up to 170 minutes of cooled continuous recording round out a body built for real production days.
