Description
The Accusys ThunderBox solves Thunderbolt 3's 2-meter cable limit by using QSFP cabling to extend PCIe connections up to 100 meters, letting a shared-storage workgroup scale to 16 workstations instead of clustering everyone within arm's reach of the storage. It's built for post-production facilities running Accusys T-Share RAID enclosures across mixed Mac, Windows, and Linux edit bays. For Linux systems that can't access Thunderbolt 3 storage due to kernel restrictions, adding an Accusys HBA card and connecting through ThunderBox provides a workaround.
- Extends connections up to 100m via QSFP: Replaces Thunderbolt 3's 2-meter cable limit, letting workstations sit far from the shared storage.
- Scales to 16 co-editing workstations: Expands a T-Share RAID enclosure's shared-storage workgroup from 4 to up to 16 systems.
- Up to 2 petabytes of capacity: Supports full T-Share Thunderbolt 3 storage capacity using 8TB HDDs.
- Cross-platform compatibility: Works across Mac, Windows, and Linux, including Linux systems blocked from native Thunderbolt 3 access via an Accusys HBA card.
- PCIe host support: Connects PCIe hosts equipped with an Accusys HBA card directly to the shared storage.
