The NiSi 49mm Professional Black Mist Kit bundles three diffusion strengths (1/2, 1/4, 1/8) plus a case, built for photographers and videographers who want a cinematic look with softened highlights and lifted shadows. Black Mist filters are commonly used to soften skin texture in portraits, but also suit night, landscape, and still-life work.
- Three Diffusion Strengths: Includes 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 stop strengths, with 1/2 being the strongest effect and each grade roughly doubling the previous one.
- Suppresses Highlights, Lifts Shadows: Balances contrast by suppressing highlights and lifting shadows while keeping a strong center on light sources.
- Cinematic, Film-Like Texture: Adds blooming and gradients to highlights for a smoother, buttery texture around direct light sources.
- Recommended Starting Points: 1/4 is a good starting point for still photography and 1/8 for filming, according to NiSi.
